Charity
Blackmores encourage all staff to participate in a charitable scheme. Employees who authorise the company to do so, have 0.5% of their taxable pay deducted each payday and placed in an interest bearing Trust Account designated Blackmores Employees Community Chest. The company, making 1% in total, contributes a similar 0.5% to the Trust. Twice yearly each participating employee nominates a registered charity to receive the donation.
In addition to this initiative, more than 300 local community groups were supported during the year with Blackmores' gift baskets and financial contributions to assist with fund-raising efforts.
The Blackmores Three Island Race, a popular sailing event at Pittwater, reached a momentous fund-raising figure this year - $1,000,000 in the 15 years the race has been staged. The proceeds support The Cure Cancer Foundation.
Rotary Club of Manly Sunrise presented Blackmores Ltd with a Community Service Award for ongoing support of local community projects. This is the first time that the award has been presented to a company.
